Swedish webshop Care of Carl has in recent seasons blossomed as one of Northern Europe’s leading e-commerce. Slowly but surely, it has increased the quality and price level of plagg- and product specialists in each area, and this week launched a new section on the website that you have chosen to call: Best of British.
Those of you who followed Manolo and Care of Carl a long time will remember that now almost exactly two years ago launched the successful concept Italian department which you could read about here on Manolo.
The new concept Best of British is a similar effort but instead focuses on highlighting the best that the British Isles has to offer. With an extensive range of producers in all areas from clothing to accessories and shoes have been hand-picked a number of specialists in each area.
Among the novelties in the segment we find Gieves & Hawkes, rivate White VC , Johnston of Elgin, Drake’s, Alice Made This, Turnbull & Asser, Dent’s, Smythson, Fox Umbrellas , Albert Thurston , Tateossian and Mackintosh .
Previously, Care of Carl markedly increased focus on quality welted shoes and out of the venture, we find among others, Crockett & Jones and John Lobb of the Best of British.
At the end of last week arranged Care of Carl exclusive Afternoon Tea event at the British Ambassador’s residence in Stockholm where several of the company’s customers had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Care of Carl the British brands introduced.
“The background to this event and our commitment to Best of British, is that I, along with my purchases colleagues Henry and Michael, had the honor to be invited by the British Embassy, about a year ago. Here we came in contact with several new British brands who wanted to establish themselves in Scandinavia. Some we had been watching for some time, while others were completely new to us. the timing was perfect!
We have always been inspired by the British style. Also, we had already several new brands from the UK in time for this coming fall season. This combined with the contacts made at the Embassy meant that we now had the opportunity to launch the Department’s “Best of British”. What we appreciate about these brands is their heritage and history, craftsmanship, attention to detail and the desire not to compromise. These values also match well with the Care of Carl’s own core values.”
